The Freedive Places’ Waleed Ghatas, in cooperation with EDLF brought competition spirit back to Blue Hole, Dahab with a CMAS depth event. Immersion was fully present—Pim as main commissioner, and Aruna as second commissioner and as safety advisor. This was the 7th time we were commissioners and helping the organization, previously the competitions were organized by Hussein Odiba from Dahab Apnea.
Thirty-three athletes—stepped up to the line, completing 132 dives in total. The sea greeted us kindly, offering smooth, effortless conditions. Despite the temperature challenges, the event became something remarkable with loads of National Records.
In the end, what stood out wasn’t just the numbers, but the spirit: a close-knit gathering of athletes, organizers, and friends sharing the sea in a family-like atmosphere. We closed with a poolside ceremony in Mashraba, Dahab, already knowing this was only the beginning. More competitions together with “The Freedive Place” are on the horizon.
