AIDA YOUGH program

The AIDA Youth Program teaches water skills to children from 6 to 15 years old. There are three courses for children from 6 to 11 years old — Bronze, Silver and Gold Dolphin — and an AIDA Junior course for adolescents from 12 to 15 years old. Each course has a section for parents on proper post-course supervision of children in the water.

AIDA BRONZE DOLPHIN

Designed for children aged 6+ who are new to the water. Using a play-based approach in a pool or confined water, it builds foundational water confidence, breath control, basic underwater movement, and essential safety habits.

Prerequisites:

Child’s own wish and intent to learn underwater skills; be at least 6 years of age. Completed AIDA Medical form and Liability Release form (signed by parent/guardian). Able to back float and return to a stable standing position, and exhale into water, in shallow water.

AIDA SILVER DOLPHIN

For children aged 6+ with established water confidence. Introduces equalization, duck diving and partnering, developing the technical foundation for safe breath-hold diving in a pool or confined water environment.

Prerequisites:

Child’s own wish and intent to learn underwater skills; be at least 6 years of age. Completed AIDA Medical form and Liability Release form (signed by parent/guardian). Competent breath control; able to float face down and recover in deep water; enter/exit deep water unaided; swim with mask and fins face-submerged.

AIDA GOLD DOLPHIN

For children aged 6+ with established equalization skills. Develops relaxation, repetitive equalization, buoyancy awareness and finned diving technique, covering both rope-pull and finning methods of descent in a pool or confined water environment.

Prerequisites:

Child’s own wish and intent to learn underwater skills; be at least 6 years of age. Completed AIDA Medical form and Liability Release form (signed by parent/guardian). Competent breath control; float face down and recover in deep water; enter/exit deep water unaided; swim with mask and fins; equalize underwater at least once.

AIDA JUNIOR freediver

For children aged 12+ who are competent swimmers. Introduces freediving technique in confined and open water, covering equalization, buoyancy, finning, recovery breathing and partnered safety practice. Students who are 16+ upon completing the course may crossover directly to AIDA2 certification by meeting additional requirements.

Prerequisites:

Child’s own wish and intent to take a freediving course; be at least 12 years of age. Completed AIDA Medical form and Liability Release form (signed by parent/guardian). Swim 50m non-stop with mask and snorkel; swim non-stop slowly for 3 minutes; tread water for 2 minutes.
