AIDA hosted its 35th Freediving World Championships in Limassol, Cyprus — marking the third time in AIDA’s history that the city has welcomed the event. The previous editions took place in 2021 and 2023, and like those, the 2025 championship focused on individual depth disciplines. This year’s competition drew an impressive 140 athletes from 53 countries.
Immersion Freediving was proud to play a part in the success of the event, with Aruna Yamashita serving as a Safety Freediver. The safety team—comprising 22 professionals—was the largest team on the world championship. Pim Vermeulen, as AIDA Judge Responsible, supported the team of judges from his apartment in Egypt.
It was an intense two weeks for all staff, marked by long and demanding days, but the results spoke for themselves: multiple World, Continental, and National Records were achieved.
