As part of our month-long trip through Asia, Immersion Freediving, in collaboration with local organizer Vincent Tsang, owner of Apnea Academy Hong Kong, proudly hosted the second of five AIDA Junior Judge Courses planned during this journey. The course covered both pool and depth disciplines, giving participants the opportunity to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to begin their journey as AIDA Junior Judges.
A Great Base at YMCA Hong Kong
Our base for the course was YMCA Hong Kong, where we received fantastic support from Vincent and the management of the sports center. We were able to make full use of their excellent teaching room and pool facilities, providing an ideal environment for both the theoretical and practical parts of the course.
For the open-water session and line measurements, we headed to Sharp Island, a beautiful island in the northern part of Hong Kong. It was a welcome change from the busy city environment, offering sandy beaches, calm and inviting waters, and lush green forest. The contrast between the vibrant city and the peaceful surroundings of Sharp Island made the open-water sessions particularly enjoyable.
A New Group of AIDA Junior Judges
The AIDA Junior Judge Course in Hong Kong was a great success. We were fortunate to have a large group of enthusiastic, motivated, and dedicated students, who approached every part of the course with great energy and professionalism. All participants successfully met the course requirements, demonstrating the knowledge, understanding, and practical skills needed to take on their new responsibilities as AIDA Junior Judges.
We are very happy to welcome this new group of judges to the AIDA community and look forward to seeing them develop their experience at competitions in the future. We wish all our new Junior Judges lots of success, exciting competitions, and plenty of enjoyment as they begin their judging journey. We are confident they will make a valuable contribution to the growing freediving community in Hong Kong.
Thank You, Hong Kong!
A big thank you to Vincent Tsang, YMCA Hong Kong, and everyone else involved in making this course such a success. We truly enjoyed our time in Hong Kong—the people, the training, the atmosphere, and the incredible contrast between the energy of the city and the tranquility of Sharp Island.
It was a fantastic second stop on our month-long journey, and we are already looking forward to returning to Hong Kong next year!
