Immersion Freediving, in collaboration with Enzo Zhao, proudly hosted our 4th and 5th AIDA Junior Judge Courses of September, covering both pool and depth disciplines, in China. Our base for these two courses was Xwater in Jiande-Hangzhou, where we received fantastic support from local organizer Zhiwei Shi, with translation assistance from Jade (Lu Zhang).
Due to the large number of participants, the courses were divided into two groups to ensure that all course requirements and practical standards could be properly maintained. The theory sessions were conducted together, with 36 students participating, while all practical sessions were split into two groups to provide sufficient time and attention for each student.
Following the successful completion of both courses, Pim also participated as a judge in three competitions at Xwater. The first was a unique depth competition in which the winner was the athlete who achieved the longest dive time in FIM (Free Immersion). Unlike a traditional FIM competition, the athlete was not allowed to stop during the dive and had to continue moving either downward or upward throughout the performance.
That evening, we held a more traditional Static Apnea competition, followed on Sunday by a fun and exciting team competition. It was a fantastic way to finish eight memorable days at the Xwater Hotel and pool.
